A better question is … How Can We Help Our Heroes Know We Care!?
“My name is John Tom, and I recently completed a twelve-week course called the “Citizens Police Academy”. If you have never attended, are curious or mistrust the person in blue, you should attend. The information you will receive gives you a better understanding of the dedication, schooling and hours that are required to wear the badge.
Crime scenes, the investigation, lab work, surveillance, much less the laws and regulations that go with it all. Most motorists get upset with a ticket. Stop and think, was I guilty of what I was accused of? Speeding, lights not working, incorrect lane change, or a rolling stop at a stop sign. All of these create a danger to you or another vehicle. They do this for your safety. Be polite, listen, you might be surprised how they treat you.
You watch the news or read the paper and every day or week you read about an officer or firefighter who was killed or injured while doing there job.
We would like to invite every church to become a part of this undertaking. These people serve and work for you. Now, let’s appreciate what they do and pray for their safety and well-being.
Their job is to protect you and your family.
If you follow the news, nearly every one killed in the line of duty has a family. They are dedicated to their job and love their family. But, imagine how they feel every day as they walk out the door to serve.
The best friend you may not know you have could be that policeman, firefighter or emergency medical services person that comes to your aid. You’ve been robbed. Do you call Aunt Bertha? No, you call the police. Your house is on fire. Do you call Joe at work? Or uncle Max collapsed on the floor. Do you hope someone comes or call 911 for emergency services? Food for thought.
Please consider starting your own “Shield the Badge” program! Our frontline heroes need our prayers and support!”
